Zalika

Listen to an interview of first time director Corinne Kempa on French Radio London.

Elise (Valerie Kaprisky) and Gaspard (Anthony Debaeck) a Caucasian French couple living in London have recently adopted a 22 month old Malian girl, Zalika (Farrah Davids-Lyle). Through the eyes of Elise, the beginning of their journey with its joys and difficulties is distilled through small touches, exploring Elise's struggle with insidious prejudices toward her transracially adopted baby, even in the couple's close circle, in contrast to the delicate and poetic moments of shared intimacy and the nurturing of the fragile bond between mother and baby.
